Payment of EPF before the 15th of every month

The Employees; Provident Fund Organisation, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, has stated that it is mandatory for employers to make the payment of Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) before the 15th of every month .
A press release issued by the Assistant PF Commissioner, Special State Office, Imphal, explained that Employees' Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, is the Central Government's legislation for compulsory extension of social security benefits to the employees working in private and public sector units .
Under this Act, the employers have a legal responsibility to remit the provident fund and allied dues in respect of their employees, in time on or before the 15th of every month so that the employees get their maximum rightful social security benefits without any deprivation as well as to avoid penalty for late payment by the employer .
It also stated that if an employer remits the PF dues in time, the employees can reap maximum benefits envisaged under the Employees' Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 .
