No GST exemption on Ngari NSU Bill to be tabled at LS

National Sports University Bill 2017 which would pave the way for establishment of a National Sports University (NSU) in Manipur would be tabled in Parliament during the ongoing monsoon session .
This was stated by Union Minister of State for Sports Vijay Goel at Rajya Sabha in response to a query raised by the State's Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda .
Vijay Goel gave his response in black and white and claimed that due process has been initiated for establishment of NSU in Manipur .
The Union Minister informed Rajya Sabha that Hindustan Steel Works Construction Limited has been hired as project management consultant of the NSU .
The Union Government has already released Rs 13.50 crore to Hindustan Steel Works Construction Limited to start pre-investment activities .
It is estimated that the first phase of the project would cost around Rs 91 crore and total cost of the project including campus may require Rs 500 crore .
To a query MoS for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar said that there is no GST relaxation on dry fish, salted and fermented fish (Ngari) .
To another query raised by Bhabananda, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Mansukh L Mandaviya maintained that vehicles can still ply on Imphal-Jiribam highway, and the highway is being developed by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited .
Altogether Rs 117.29 crore was spent during the last three years on developing and maintaining Imphal-Jiribam highway, Mansukh L Mandaviya stated .
Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr Harsh Vardhan maintained that there is no report of extensive deforestation in Manipur although jhum/shifting cultivation is practised in some parts of forest areas .
Citing a forest survey report of 2015, Dr Harsh Vardhan stated that Manipur's forest cover has increased by 4 square Kms.
