Bird traps seized

Imphal, November 15 2017:
The Kakching Range seized 72 bird traps from different lakes Loushipat, Kharungpat, Khoidumpat, Pumlenpat and Moirangkom pat yesterday.
The seized traps were disposed at Kakching Lamkhai in front of Kakching Range Office in the presence of media persons.
As a start of the Wildlife Conservation drive, a search operation was conducted by Forest Beat Officer, Waikhong, N Brojen Singh, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Thoubal W Ramchandra Singh, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Kakching M Opendro Singh, Deputy Ranger, M Biran Singh and F G, N Mangi Singh, under the supervision of Range Forest Officer, Kakching N Munal Meitei.
Four bird traps were also recovered from Komnao village, an areas where migratory birds usually arrive.
Taking the advantage of the darkness, the miscreants escaped, reports our correspondent.
The members of Youth Organization, Komnao showed keen interest to help the Forest Department to save the Wildlife and Migratory birds in the future.
While checking the Moirangkom Pat on the western side of Kakching Khunou village, three other bird traps were detected and removed.
One trap was also recovered from Langmeidong Makha Pat.
Altogether 72 bird traps including those traps which were seized last year were disposed.
N Munal Meitei said that the wildlife conservation drive would be continued and also in a strict manner.
He appealed the public not set any traps or involve in killing wildlife animals.
