Biren visits Tamenglong with Rs 325 Cr promise

Announcing different development projects worth Rs 325 crore for Tamenglong district, Chief Minister N Biren today underscored that there cannot be mutual love sans equal status.
Chief Minister N Biren, his Cabinet colleagues and top ranking officials of the State G6vt today went to Tamenglong on road and held a Cabinet meeting there.
The CM and the Cabinet Ministers were given a rousing reception at Lower Ground, Tamenglong district headquarters.
Speaking at the reception ceremony, N Biren said there can be no mutual love without sharing the same status.
Those who enjoy higher status should uplift people who are struggling in the lower strata.
"Why there is division mistrust among the people This is bound to happen.
People should show solidarity to each other.
Sitting at the comfort of the verandah with mere rhetoric would be hollow," he said.
N Biren further said that emotional gap cannot be bridged when the roads are in a deplorable state.
He also rued that construction of the Sports Complex at Tamenglong which was started when he was the Sports Minister is yet to be completed.
He said that fund for the projects which he announced today are already at hand.
He said he would not venture into the district again if the projects he announced today are not completed.
Biren told the gathering that his next visit to the district would be only to inaugurate and hand over the projects to the people.
Asserting that his Government is not oriented to contract works like the previous Government, the CM said it is composed of a team who are practical.
He further said that the Govt would not insist on giving the contract works of the projects to particular persons.
He urged the civil society to consult among them and choose the most capable persons.
Inaugurating a 50-bedded district hospital, N Biren laid the foundation for construction of 5000 MT FCI godown to be constructed atthe cost of Rs 11.89 crore; construction of water supply scheme at the cost of Rs 40 crore under NLCPR; construction of Rani Gaidinliu women's market at the cost of Rs 10 crore and transit hostel for teachers and doctors at the cost of Rs 10 crore.
The Chief Minister also said that he has instructed NHIDCL to ensure completion of Tamenglong-Khongsang road either by last part of January or early part of February next year.
He said he will personally monitor the road construction.
He further announced that water harvesting unit will be constructed at two places where water supply schemes are to be taken up at a cost of Rs 4 crore per unit.
Biren also assured that MST buses will reach Tamenglong district headquarters and opening of DTO.
He further said that all districts of the State would be provided an ambulance each equipped with advanced life saving support within January next year.
Pointing out that Tamenglong, Imphal East and Senapati districts are included in the North East Region Community Resources Management Project, he said these districts can now avail several schemes and projects under NERCORMP. Saying that there is a plan to open a bank and renovation of police station at Tamei Sub-divisional headquarters, the CM said the Govt will not deposit money to those banks which refuse to open branches at unbanked areas.
All census villages of the district would be electrified within this year and 7000 LED bulb will be distributed within March next year.
He also said that 411.35 kms of road will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1089.99 lakh under PMGSY.
He added that Rs 50 crore has been earmarked for construction of water supply schemes at different locations of the district.
Biren further said cooperation of the people is needed in the implementation of the projects.
