International Human Rights Day observed

Imphal, December 10 2018:
JAC against the custodial killings of Gurumayum Jiteswar Sharma, Thangjam Satish, Thounaojam Prem, RK Ranel and Phijam Naobiby 3 Corps Intelligence and Surveillance Unit (CISU) of Indian Army, Committee on Human Rights (COHR), Manipur has organised a sit in protest and also observed "International Human Rights Day" at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai Community hall today.
The theme of International Human Rights day for this year is 'Stand up for Human Rights".
One of the members of COHR said that most of the times, human rights violation cases are often caused by those who are in power or the authorities and stressed on the need to unite together so as to fight against such violation.
Longjam Memchoubi, president of Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Manipur, Phulindro Konsam, chairman, COHR, Manipur, Khurailakpam Deban, president AMUCO, Joy Chingakham, chairman Human Rights Defender and K Ranjit president, Families of the Involuntarily Disappeared Association Manipur, FIDAM attended the event as dignitaries.
The dignitaries also spoke about the custodial killing in the State and removal of AFSPA 1958.Meanwhile, World Human Rights Protection Association Manipur Chapter celebrated 70th World Human Rights Day at Manipur Press Club today.
Chairman of Manipur State Haj Committee, Moulana Abdush Salam, CCSK president Jitendra Ningombam, working president of All Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union Hari Prasad and founder member of Gol Win Shimray attended the event as dignitaries and presided by World Human Rights Protection Association Manipur Chapter president Md Wahajuddin.
The dignitaries spoke about Human Rights during the occasion.
