Imphal, December 11 2023:
A team of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) met Rajya Sabha Member Leisemba Sanajaoba at his official residence at Firoz Shah Road, Delhi today and submitted a memorandum.
Through the memorandum, the MPCC team urged the lone Rajya Sabha Member from Manipur to raise the issue of violent conflict besieging the State since the past seven months and possibly explore a solution during the ongoing Parliament session.
The MPCC team led by vice president Hareshwar Goswami talked with Leisemba Sanajaoba for around 90 minutes where Prof M Ramananda of Delhi University was also present.
Earlier on December 8, the MPCC team called on Lok Sabha (Inner Manipur) Member and Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Dr RK Ranjan and Lok Sabha (Outer Manipur) Member Lorho S Pfoze at Delhi and submitted copies of the same memorandum.
The memorandum urged the three MPs elected from Manipur to draw attention of the Central leaders to the burning issue of Manipur and explore a solution.
Leisemba Sanajaoba said that he is in consonance with all the points listed in the memorandum.
He said that he tried to raise the State's current issue two/three times but he has not yet been given permission to speak on the floor of the Parliament.
Nonetheless, the MPCC team urged Leisemba Sanajaoba as well as the other two MPs to do everything possible so as to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Pointing out that hundreds of people have been killed and around 60,000 people have been rendered homeless after their houses were burnt down, the MPCC team urged the Rajya Sabha Member to take up all possible resettlement measures on war-footing.
The memorandum demanded immediate payment of adequate compensation to all those people whose houses and other properties have been burnt.
