Media sensitization programme held

A media sensitization programme on "Ethics of Media Reporting on HIV/AIDS" was held today at Loktak Hall, Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
The media sensitisation programme was organised by the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) in collaboration with Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) .
It was graced by Shamim Ahmad Shah, Project Director of MACS and AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam as presidium members.
At the event, the dignitaries highlighted the need to educate journalists on responsible reporting of HIV/AIDS related issues while ensuring accuracy, sensitivity, and adherence to ethical guidelines.
They observed that media professionals need to play a proactive role in spreading awareness and reducing stigmatization of persons affected by HIV/AIDS .
In the technical session, Omajit Leishanthem, DA (IEC & MS), delivered a lecture on the topic, "HIV and AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act, 2017" while Phanjaobam Langamba Meitei, Assistant Director (D&P), MACS, spoke on "Ethics of Media Reporting on HIV and AIDS" .
The participants also actively engaged in discussions, sharing their views on improving media coverage of health issues in Manipur.
