Imphal, April 07 2025:
The Joint Action Committee Opposing Delimitation Exercise in Manipur has urged the Government to rectify the 2001 Census data to ensure a fair and accurate delimitation process.
Addressing the media at IPSA office today, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, the Committee president, said that the Government should proceed with delimitation in Manipur only after correcting the 2001 Census errors in a manner acceptable to the people.
Saying that the Supreme Court's three-month ultimatum for completing Manipur's delimitation process expires on July 21, he added that proceeding the delimitation with the 2001 Census report would be a mistake.
The 2001 Census data shows unrealistic figures and abnormal population growth, he said and added that the Census data must be rectified by linking it with Aadhaar data.
