Naga Conclave begins today

Imphal, May 06 2025:
A four-day 'Naga Conclave-2' organised by United Naga Council (UNC) in collaboration with Naga Women Union (NWU) and All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) will begin from Wednesday at Senapati district headquarters.
The first day of the conclave to be held under the theme 'Critiquing grand narratives', will be addressed by UNC president Ng Lorho.
The first and second session on the second day (May 8) will feature NEHU, Shillong, Department of Philosophy professor Xavier Mao speaking on the topic 'Geopolitical colonial framework: A critique' and on 'Contextualisation of colonial strategic geo-political framework: A critique' .
Whereas the third session will be addressed by human rights activist Chingya Luithui on the topic 'A perspective on the historico-politico legal framework of colonialism governing the tribals' , and the fourth session by United College, Chandel's Dr Benjamin Gangmei on the topic 'Constitutional proviso of tribal rights vis-a-vis the Indian Constitution with reference to Article 371-C'.On the third day, Dr Chingri Vashum of DM University, Imphal will speak on the topic 'A comprehensive perspective of Naga customary and traditional rights' in the first session, followed by Dr Lokho Puni, retired IFS, deliberating on 'Situating contemporary development trajectory within the neo colonial ambit', HRD NEC former director Kh Siile Anthony on the topic 'A contextual dialogue on the development matrix' and social activist Ngachonmy Chamroy on the topic 'Polemics and dynamics of political development: a way forward' in the subsequent sessions.
On the final day, two sessions will feature Global Naga Forum co-convener professor Rosemary Dziivichu speaking on 'A contemporary historical narrative of Naga political trajectory: A dialogue' and Forum convener Chuba Ozukum on the topic 'Traversing the Naga political trajectory', followed by a panel discussion led by NPMHR secretary general Neingulo Krome.
