The District Project Management Unit Chandel
(Intensified Malaria Control Project -3), in
association with Diocesan Social Service
Society (DSSS), Imphal observed World
Malaria Day 2016 by taking out a rally at district
headquarters Chandel today.
The rally was held under the theme 'End
Malaria for good', our correspondent re-
ports.
Before the rally, a function was held at
the indoor stadium, Ukhrul presided by All
Tribal Women Organisation Chandel, presi-
dent Lalam Mate.
A signature campaign to join the fight
against Malaria was also organised during
the function.
Chandel police OC, Inspector
Gaithoupao were among others who signed
for the campaign.
Hundreds of students from St Peter
Higher Secondary School, Emmanuel High
School, TMT High School and Oriental
High School took part in the rally which
was flagged off by District Malaria Officer
Dr Joyson Mathew Monsang from the in-
door stadium.
The rally ended at Chandel
DC, Lamkhai.
Speaking at the sidelines of the rally,
president of ATWO Lalam Mate said proper
awareness with effective mechanism to pre-
vent and control Malaria should be provided
to people living in different parts of the State
by the concerned department with the help
of civil organisations and NGOs.
Awareness and proper understanding of
the causes and spread of the disease is one
way to minimise the loss of lives.
The objective of organising the rally was
to create mass awareness about Malaria in
the district, District Project Officer Kh
