3 from NE named for Sangeet Natak Akademi

Guwahati, April 25 2016:
Three artistes from the NE have been selected for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, 2015, and four from the region have been named for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva
Puraskar.
Sharodi Saikia from Assam was selected for Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in dance for her contributions in Sattriya dance while W Lokendrajit Singh from Manipur would get the award in the category of contemporary and experimental dance.
Gangmei Aluna Kabuini, also from Manipur, was selected in the traditional Manipuri dance and music category.
The President will confer the awards to the winners, who will also get a sum of Rs 1 lakh along with a tampatra and an angavastram.
"I feel great as it is a huge achievement.
Sangeet Natak Akademi is a recognition given by artistes to other fellow performers.
I thank my parents for supporting me in my endeavour in Sattriya culture," said Sharodi Saikia.
P Bilash Singh from Manipur, Boby Chakraborty from Tripura, Seujpriya Borthakur Goswami and Shilpika Bordoloi from Assam have been selected for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for their contributions in Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Sattriya and Contemporary and Experimental dances respectively.
The Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Purishkar carries Rs 25,000."I must thank my Guru.
I am a dancer and with this announcement my commitment," said Seujpriya Borthakur Goswami.
