Imphal, March 16:
Samples of edible oil which were collected from all over the State including Moreh and sent to the Guwahati based Forensic Science Laboratory to test for any possible adulteration have tested positive.
The samples of the edible oil were collected during special drives launched by the Food and Civil Supplies Minister Y Erabot some time last year.
The exercise was taken up after The Sangai Express ran a story that the State Government was sleeping over the instructions issued by the Centre to all the States to test all brands of edible oil and verify whether any of them contained animal fats or not.
Speaking to The Sangai Express FCS Minister Y Erabot said that the report from the Forensic Laboratory at Guwahati has arrived and added that test result shows that the edible oil collected from the State were adulterated.
Since the result of the lab test has to be diagnosed by the Health Department, the FCS Department has already referred the report to the Health Department to verify the nature of the adulterants, said a source and added that action will be taken up as per the report of the Health department.
However on the other hand the Health Department said that they have not received any report from the FCS Department.
