Angry mob demolish murderer's house

Imphal, March 13: Enraged over the killing of 8 year old Chinglenkhomba, a mob demolished the house of the killer, Bungthoi at Khagempalli Panthak today.

On the other hand police have recovered the scissor used by the killer as well as the cycle of the victim.

As suspicion grew that Bungthoi could be involved in the killing of the child, a large number of people went to meet his father, Ibochou today.

However on reaching the house they found that all the family members had fled earlier.

The enraged mob, recalling the notorious past of Bungthoi then started destroying the goods of the house from 9 am today.

Neighbours at the site said that before the house was attacked, they saw three youths going to the house in civvies.

Apart from substantially damaging the house, all the household properties of the family were taken to the ground of Irom Pukhri Mapal Social Club and set on fire.

Even as the mob was dismantling the house, the grand father of Bungthoi came out and told the crowd that they can give whatever punishment they want to his grand son, but added that since the house was built by him (grandfather), those involved in the demolition should compensate.

Not surprisingly, this only added to the ire of the mob and the grandfather was physically assaulted and his house was also attacked.

The situation was brought under control only after the police arrived.

On the other hand the JAC Against the Brutal and Inhuman Killing of Master L Shanderdev staged a protest rally today.

The protest rally started from RIMS morgue after the post mortem with the rallyists carrying the mortal remains of the child.

The rally first stopped at John's English School, where the young child studied and later proceeded through Keishampat junction, Tiddim road, Kwakeithel, Khagempalli and after passing over Ngakraba bridge went to the spot where the child was found murdered.

Later the mortal remains of Bung was consigned to the flames at the crematorium on the bank of Imphal river on the Khagempalli side.

A meeting organised by the JAC was later held which was attended by meira paibis and members of local clubs.

A number of resolutions were adopted during the meeting.

It was resolved that the JAC would extend all possible help and co-operation to any drive taken up against intoxicants as the killing was a direct fall out of drug abuse.

If the killer does not surrender within five days time, then the family members should bear all the responsibilities, it was also resolved.

Meanwhile, Indian Academy of Pediatrics (Manipur State Branch), All Manipur Nupi Marup; UPF, AMSU, DESAM, AISF Manipur State Council; Kanglei Chanura Chaokhat Lamching Lup (Kangleichal), Chanura Marup, HERICOUN, Anti Narcotic and Drug Organisation (Kangleipak), USER Manipur), etc have strongly condemned the brutal killing of Laishram Chinglenkhomba.
