Teen missing case: Angry locals storm police station

Tension prevailed in Nongpok Sekmai area of Thoubal district on Monday after angry locals stormed a police station over the missing of a teen.
Thoubal district's Ukhongsang Mamang Leikai resident Thangjam Kelvin (16), son of Th Premjit has gone missing since March 29.One Longjam Dhojo of Nongpok Lourembam, now in the custody of Nongpok Sekmai Police Station, is said to be involved in the missing incident of the Class XI student of HRD, Ghari.
Angry locals stormed the Nongpok Sekmai Police Station demanding that the accused be handed over to the public and that whereabouts of the missing boy be ascertained at the earliest.
Premjit, father of the missing teen said his son had left home along with accused Dhojo on March 29, but he failed to return home.
The next day, the father called up Dhojo to make inquiries about his son and the latter replied that he (Kelvin) was with him.
However, the accused kept his mobile phone in switch-off mode on the second day, he said, adding his son went out on an R-15 bike with registration number MN-04D-2138.Premjit then lodged a missing complaint at Yairipok Police Station on April 1 .
Much to the surprise of everyone, he said, Dhojo surrendered to Yairipok Police on April 10 and then he was handed to Nongpok Sekmai Police Station on the next day.
"Whereabouts of my son is still unknown," Premjit said.
A woman who took part in the protest said accused Dhojo would not be allowed to move from the police station until the missing boy was found and threatened of intense agitation over the issue.
On hearing the news that the accused was being taken away to another police station, the locals came rushing to the Nongpok Sekmai Police Station and stormed it.
A joint Action Committee (JAC) was formed in connection with the Kelvin missing case.
It demanded that all culprits involved in the missing of the boy be booked by April 15 and accused Dhojo must not be moved to other police station.
The JAC decided that agitation would be launched if whereabouts of Dhojo is not established by the authorities by April 15 .
