Kangpokpi, April 13 2015 :
Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Kadangband killings in which a civilian and a KNF member was shot dead has urged Chief Minister O Ibobi to expedite the magisterial inquiry on the alleged fake encounter.
In a representation submitted to Chief Minister, JAC Chairman Thangminlen Haokip has expressed dismay with the slow pace of the inquiry which according to JAC was constituted following the demand for a probe into the alleged fake encounter at Kadangband on January 28 .
The JAC claimed that according to the Government vide order No.20/1(13)/2013-H(LC)Pt, dated 31st January 2015, the time-frame set for the inquiry was 2 (two) months.
However, even after two months, the Government was yet to come out with the report of the finding.
While urging the Chief Minister to look into the matter and expedite the inquiry, the JAC Chairman recounted the alleged fake encounter staged by "AR who ambushed the victims' party with the intent to kill" resulting in the death of one civilian and another member of the KNF, a SoO signatory.
It may be mentioned that the JAC on Kadangband killing had already imposed a five-day economic blockade along the national highway in the state from February 17 midnight.
The blockade was withdrawn following the appeal made by KIM.
