The vital inter villages road that connects more than 12 remote villages located along the border with the district headquarters, which was completely damaged by Cyclone Mora last month has been restored with the help of Ukhrul AC MLA Alfred Arthur Kangam .
The road stretching from Shirui village to Zingsui village via Mapum is the lifeline of the villages under Sahamphung SDC block Ukhrul district .

It is the only motorable road that connects the last eastern border village of Ukhrul district, Kachouphung village passing through the villages Mapum, Zingsui, Pushing, Roni, Ronshak, Sahamphung, Matiyang, Chammu, Hangou Kaphung, Khayang, Langza and it remained completely cut off due to massive landslides at many portions of the road .
Although the respective village authority had approached the PMGSY contractors concerned to repair th damaged portions of the road, they received no satisfactory response .
After reports of the damaged road reached the Ukhrul AC MLA, he swung into action and deployed heavy machineries for immediate road accessibility, cleared the deposited mud, debris and constructed proper drainage .
It took more than 3 weeks to complete the repairing work of the said road .
Now with the road satisfactorily restored essential commodities, medicines etc can now be trasnported along the said route .
The road beyond Zingsui village however is still in a deplorable state and need immediate attention from the authority concerned, said Ngaranmi .
Extending gratefulness to the local MLA for the timely assistance, the villagers said that the prompt response of the MLA will be recorded for years to come.
