Awareness campaign on environment, health and sanitation held in Tml

Tamenglong, June 28 2018:
A one day awareness campaign on environment, health and sanitation was held at the Community Hall of Namkaolong village, Tamenglong.
The awareness programme, organised by Namkaolong Youth Club in collaboration with Forest Department, Health & Family and PHED, was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Tamenglong Dr Chambo Gonmei, Assistant Engineer PHED Tamenglong Ajin Thaimei and Range Forest Officer, Tamenglong Kh Hitler as dignitaries and resource persons.
Speaking at the event, CMO Tamenglong Dr Chambo Gonmei emphasised on the need of a Primary Health Sub-Centre in the village.
A proposal has been made to the authority concerned.
Namkaolong and the surrounding villages will soon have a Primary Health Sub-Centre in the village, he said.
Range Forest Officer, Tamenglong Kh Hitler urged the villagers to preserve and protect the rich environment of the villages and forests.
He appealed the villagers to avoid burning forest and pointed out the negative impact of deforestation and burning.
Assistant Engineer PHED Tamenglong Ajin Thaimei spoke on water conservation and sanitation.
With a power point presentation, he explained the need to conserve water.
Namkaolong Village Authority Chairman Zeiringkhon Kamei, declared Namkaolong village as Open Defecation Free and he appealed the Government and concerned authorities for development packages forthe region in the interest of the general public.
During the programme, Namkaolong village resolved to preserve and protect forests and the flora and fauna.
The village also resolved to stop burning forests.
Namkaolong Youth club president Gaichuillung Pamei and Namkaolong village Authority Chairman Zeiringkhon Kamei expressed their gratitude to the resource persons.
Namkaolong (Keikao) village is 29 km (approx) from Tamenglong District headquarters and is under Tamenglong Police Station.
