Imphal, May 08 2016:
Tribal Revolutionary Army (TRA) has clarified that MLA GS Haopu's PRO Thangsianbiak alias Biabiak was
pulled up from near Shija hospital on April 26 for allegedly taking
a bribe of Rs 3 crore from the Ibobi-led Congress Government by
the MLA.
In a statement, TRA information secretary John Hangshing
said that the outfit had warned the MLA to stop acting as a
puppet of the State Government.
Considering the appeals made by various tribal civil society
organisations, Biabiak was released on humanitarian ground
safe and sound at a place located between Sekmai and
Maharabi in the evening of May 6.
However, Manipur police commandos took advantage of
the release and showed it as a rescue operation conducted at
Leikot village the same night, the statement claimed.
The operation was allegedly conducted with the troops of
25 Assam Rifles Motbung post.
However, the AR troops did not have any knowledge
about the rescue of Biabiak, the statement said.
As such, the 'rescue story' was totally baseless and unac-
ceptable to everyone, the statement claimed.
The State Government is using the incident to fulfill their
interest of deploying police commandos in hill areas.
The statement said that it was absolutely shameful and the
police officers, who were said to have taken part in the
operation must be punished.
TRA would safeguard the interest of tribal people, the
outfit said and added that action would be taken against all the
tribal Ministers, MLAs and officers who take bribe regarding
passing of three anti-tribal Bills.
