Imphal, September 05 2018:
All Political Party Core Committee, which consists of 10 parties, has strongly condemned the antics of AP Pandey against the teachers and students of Manipur University, apart from demanding that befitting action be taken up against him at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhawan today, the core committee convenor, ex-MLA RK Anand said that necessary inquiry has been launched against AP Pandey as per the agreement reached between MUSU, MUTA, MUSA with the State Government and the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
But the recent cloud of uncertainty caused by AP Pandey's return from leave and resuming duties, has the potential to disrupt the academic atmosphere of the university.
As such all political parties are monitoring the situation minutely.
Condemning the statements made by AP Pandey to media persons yesterday, RK Anand said that his words are akin to challenging the university teachers and students and demanded the State Government to take up necessary action against Pandey at the earliest.
If he is allowed to carry on with his action, it will result in an adverse impact on the law and order situation in the State.
This might also lead to great inconveniences for the university which was opened after a long impasse just recently, he added.
On the other hand, RK Anand condemned the assault on All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) general secretary Soibam Anil by four alleged NSCN (IM) cadres while returning from a freshers meet event of All Assam Manipur Students Union (AAMSU) yesterday.
He continued that it is the responsibility of the monitoring groups to oversee the violation of ceasefire ground rules by the NSCN (IM) and demanded the Government to nab and punish those involved in the act.
If the Government fails to catch the culprits, it should ban the outfit, he added.
Speaking to media persons CPI leader Dr M Nara clarified that all the political parties met in the interests of the State and not for election purposes.
Alleging that the issues surrounding Manipur are the game plan of the NDA Government at the Centre, Nara said that the university issue resulted after the university community rose against VC AP Pandey who was sent by the BJP led NDA Government.
Condemning the antics of AP Pandey, Nara alleged that his acts are an insult to the people of Manipur as a whole.
Nara continued that Pandey's stubborn and arrogant attitude is because he has some people or party backing him and questioned if the Central and State Government are just going to stay mum on the issue.
Pointing out that the political "parties will no longer remain silent spectators, Nara' opined that it is high time for befitting actions to be taken up against the VC.
The NDA Government is an anti-people Government.
Apart from being communal, it openly violates the Indian Constitution as well.
As protest against the BJP Government, all political parties core committee will be organising a convention on September 22 to let the people aware of the steps to be taken up by the committee.
Starting from September 10, various meetings will be organised at certain locations of the State to discuss the current issues of the State, including Manipur University, he added.
Demanding the State Government for calling an Assembly session by September 15, he explained that leaders are elected by the people and Assembly sessions are held so as to discuss steps for the welfare of the people.
Former ML A Ng Bijoy said AP Pandey was given leave after the MoA was signed by MHRD.
One month was given for necessary inquiry against him and 15 days were granted for investigation and for taking up necessary actions.
The claims by Pandey that he did not receive any copy of the order from the Registrar in-charge, is completely false, he claimed.
On the other hand, veteran politician O Joy has also questioned if AP Pandey is above the State and the Central Government.
Speaking to media persons at his residence at Kakwa today, O Joy said that with the signing of an agreement between the university community and the State and Central Governments, Manipur University opened after an impasse lasting 85 days and various pending examinations were declared.
It was agreed to constitute an independent inquiry committee and to give leave to Pandey urrtil submission of necessary inquiry report.
However, the recent acts of AP Pandey are an insult to the State Government and the Ministers.
It is as if he is even above the Prime Minister of the country, Joy added.
He continued that it would be the right step to lodge an FIR against Pandey for attempting to create a law and order situation in the State and to send him to jail.
