Imphal, December 23 2024: The State Handloom Expo (Hathkargha Mela) organised by Manipur Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (MHHDCL) concluded today at Manipur State Film Development Society, Wangkhei, Imphal East.

The expo was conducted under the sponsorship of the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handloom), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

The closing ceremony was attended by E Jeeten, Managing Director, MHHDCL; Priyadarshi Daripa, Deputy Director, Weavers' Service Centre Porompat; Th Basanta Singh, General Manager, MHHDCL; and National Awardee (Design), Chirom Indira devi as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, E Jeeten expressed joy over the successfill conduct of the 14-days long State Handloom Expo which provided an opportunity to sell local handloom & handicraft products.

He shared that Melas have been conducted under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles from time-to-time to support local weavers & artisans and provide a marketing platform.

E Jeeten also advised the weavers and artisans to not focus only on profit and maintain quality of the products to ensure a steady demand & market for these products.
