Gorkha meritorious students felicitated

All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union, Irang Unit has organised felicitation cum counseling programme for the meritorious Gorkha Students of Irang areas who has secured first division in the Class X and XII examinations 2018 conducted by BOSEM, COSHEM and CBSE at Irang Part-II Govt High School, Panikheti on August 15.In the programme, around 50 students were felicitated with citations and gifts while cultural dance, poem recitation were also performed during the function.
Ram Bahadur Karki, GB (Goan Buda) Irang Unit Irang Pt-II, Tillachan Poudel, president, AMGSU, Irang Unit, Chandra Bahadur Basnet, secretary Irang Part-II Village Authority Board, RC Adhikari, headmaster Irang Pt-II Govt High School, SB Bhattarai, headmaster Singha Rupa Govt Aided Jr School, Gorkha Harup attended the programme as presidium members.
Members of Irang Authority Board, representative of AMGSU Ghq, Narayan Adhikari and Dilliram Bhattarai and representative of KSO Twilang Block also attended the function.
Chief guest Ram Bahadur Karki while congratulating the students who have passed in the first divisions also praised the teachers of Irang areas for imparting priceless knowledge and new ideas to the successful students and moulding Irang into a good society despite being situated at the remote area.
Speaking at the occasion, Narayan Adhikari stressed on the role of parents in guiding their children while adding that parents should encourage their children to face the examinations with confidence without any pressure.
He continued that many bright students wasted their quality educations in the menace of drug addiction and nuisance of social media engaging in mobile phones.
Positive thinkers and local intellectuals should guide such students to bring them in right path, said Adhikari.
Speaking as resource person S B Bhattarai, headmaster Singha Rupa Govt Aided School, Gorkha Harup said that there were many good examples set by many motivated students and urged the students should choose meticulously for further studies after Class X and XII based on their capacity without any influence from friend circle with confidence and determination.
He further said that to achieve something in life, students have to go through ups and downs, need to travel on bad and good roads whereas discipline, punctuality and honesty are the basic qualities and positive thoughts is the best option for the students to remain firm and solid in the time of adversity.
The statement issued by the publicity secretary of AMGSU, Manipur mentioned that the pass percentage of Irang Part-2 Govt High School in the HSLC Examination, 2018 was 100% and the school is look after by the AMGSU Irang Unit.
SMDC hired local youths from different areas of Irang due to inadequate number of teachers.
All together 264 students were enrolled for the academic year 2018 but the nine (9) teachers have been tasked to educate the students, the statement added.
AMGSU appealed the authority concerned to look into the shortage of teachers and do not take the matter lightly.
The union also lamented that no sufficient infrastructure were provided after repeated appeal to the concerned authority.
