Imphal, December 03 2024: A 10-bedded Sports Medicine Ward was inaugurated today at RIMS by RIMS Director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma in the presence of Dr Yumnam Ningthemba Singh, Head (in-charge) of Sports Medicine Department, Dr Y Nandabir Singh, Professor, Sports Medicine Department and N Ibemhal Devi, Chief Nursing Officer (in-charge).

Addressing the inaugural function, Prof G Sunil Kumar said that the Sports Medicine Centre, the only one in North East India and one of eight such centres across the country, has achieved a proud milestone with the establishment of the new 10-bedded ward which meets National Medical Commission standards for MD programme.

Process is underway to develop the Sports Medicine course, secure 80 faculty posts for super-speciality growth and establish a 500-bedded super-speciality block alongside a 750-bedded general hospital with a proposed investment exceeding Rs 3000 crore, Prof Sunil Kumar said.

Recognised for cleanliness and operational excellence, RIMS is committed to making its Sports Medicine Department the best in India with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure, he added.
