Village chief demands immediate apology for alleged vandalism, trespassing

Alleging that some unknown persons, suspected to be villagers of Nungsai village trespassed in Joujangtek village (Noney district) on the intervening night of March 17 and March 18 and allegedly vandalized village properties, the chief of Joujangtek village has affirmed that villagers of Nungsai village will be restricted from entering Joujangtek village till they (Nungsai villagers) tender an apology to Joujangtek villagers through customary practice for allegedly committing wrongful/ criminal act.
Speaking to media persons at Joujangtek village, chief/chairman Henkhopao Haokip informed that some unknown persons, suspected to be villagers of Nungsai village trespassed in Joujangtek Village on the March 17 midnight and allegedly destroyed village properties, including vegetables and water pipes apart from dismantling the fences of the village farms.
He strongly condemned the alleged trespassing and vandalism carried out by the villagers of Nungsai Village conveying that the decision to restrict Nungsai villagers from entering Joujangtek village, till the former tender an apology, was adopted during a meeting.
The chief went on to state that Joujangtek village will continue blaming Nungsai village in case any unwanted incidents occur in the near future if Nungsai villagers fail to apologise at the earliest.
Asserting that similar incidence have also occurred in the past like cutting standing crops in a sugarcane farm and allegedly encroaching Joujangtek village by constructing a Church, Henkhopao Haokip informed that a complaint has been lodged to Khoupum PS in connection with the alleged vandalisation of properties and trespassing on the midnight of March 17.He appealed all concerned not to create any communal tension regarding the incident and asked all to consider it as a matter of the two villages.
