Imphal, May 22 2009: A tribal nurse from the state employed at Vinayak Hospital, Delhi, who was allegedly murdered by unidentified miscreants few days back, has been disposed off in the National Capital on May 19 holding back the bereaved family from performing the last rite.

The murder took place few months after a six year old child from neighbouring Nagaland was raped and murdered by miscreant at Delhi.

Langailu Pamei (25) daughter of Chun Thuilung (Athui) Pamei of Khumji Part-II (Lukhambi) village in Tamenglong district, a nurse at Vinayak Hospital, Derawal Nagar, Delhi, went missing since May 13.She had been staying with her younger sister Esther (10) at B-186, Gandhi Vihar, Delhi-59, sources said here.

The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Delhi swung into action to trace the missing girl after being informed about the incident.

On the process to trace her whereabouts, the students' body came across a report that a dead body of a girl, resembling a student from the North East and suspected to be murdered, was found by the Police at Ridge Area, Rajpur Civil Line on May 15 through local newspapers, according to the source.

Acting promptly on the information, the members of the students' body went to the Morgue to confirm the report on May 18.However, when the students went the next day to the Morgue, the dead body was already disposed, it further said.

Meanwhile, a JAC was formed by several Zeliangrong bodies including the Zeliangrong Union, ZSUM, Zeliangrong Cultural Council, Zeliangrong Youth Front, and Kabui Mothers' Association against the brutal killing of the young girl.

Talking to reporters today at the Namdunlong Youth Club office, Khuman Lampak, spokesman of the JAC, Dr S Xavier Panmei said that the killing of Langailu was not the first instance where people from Manipur have been killed by miscreants in the National Capital.

He said the apathy of the state government in protecting the lives of the state natives in Delhi after repeated pleas by various organisations is the weakness of the state government.

Insisting the state government initiate steps to book the criminals, the JAC spokesman also demands adequate compensation to the victim's family from the state government.

Xavier also cautions the state government that intense agitations will be launched in collaboration with various civil society organisations if the demands of the JAC are not fulfilled.

In the meantime, the Liangmai Naga Council has endorsed the demands of the JAC and assured to extend cooperation to the JAC in its future course of action.

At the same time, the All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AMN), the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur, and the Inpui Students' Union (AMN) have registered their strong condemnation over the brutal murder of a nurse at Vinayak Hospital, Delhi, Langailiu Kamei.

A statement jointly signed by the general secretary of AZSU (AMN), Joshua Dangmei and state secretary of ZSUM, Chunthuigai Kamei stated that the news of the murder comes as a shock to the Zeliangrong people while urging the concerned authority to book the culprit immediately.

Terming the incident as total failure to protect the lives of the minorities, the statement stated that the Delhi administration is squarely to be blamed for all the killings and murders that took place especially at the capital.
