Four candidates in fray for TNL presidency

Ukhrul, May 16 2024:
Four persons will contest for the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) presidential post.
Their fate will be decided on May 22 through representative votes of all Tangkhul villages.
According to information from the TNL Election Commissioner Office, the process of scrutiny was completed today and all four candidates were deemed qualified.
Retired IAAS Sword Vashum from Talui village, KYS Yangmi of Hungpung village, SA Ramnganing of Maranphung village and Vareishang Zingkhai of Kuirei village will be contesting for the TNL presidency.
On May 22, the voting will start from 7 am with the supervision of the election commissioner and will end at 2 pm.
Counting of votes will begin henceforth.
Altogether 731 voters from 217 Tangkhul villages will decide the fate of the four candidates on May 22 .
The electors in zones wise division are Northern Tangkhul-229 votes, Eastern zone-155 votes.
Western-146 votes and Southern Tangkhul-180 votes while TNL Phungva/Executive enjoys 15 votes, Assembly Affairs-2 votes and Zonal Chairman-4 votes.
Last date for withdrawal of candidature is May 18.The candidates will address the public and share their manifestoes on May 21.As per TNL election code of conduct, no more campaigns will be allowed after the public address.
