Imphal, April 08 2025:
Listing 16 demands, the Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) and the Manipur State Pensioners Union (MSPU) have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary, Secretary to Governor and Commissioners of different Departments yesterday.
Speaking to the media in this regard at Pishumthong on behalf of the employees and pensioners, MGSF president Laishram Sarat said that their primary demands are to stop unnecessary re-engagement or extension of service periods for retired employees to ensure fairness in employment practices and to increase the DA/DR for State Government employees to 53 per cent to match Central Government employees' rates.
Saying that pension money should be released on time and the Old Pension Scheme must be reinstated by withdrawing the New Pension Scheme, he urged the relevant authorities to formulate a uniform pension system for employees of corporations and local self bodies including Public Sector Undertakings.
He also demanded equal pay for nurses working in State Government hospitals and healthcare institutions.
Further urging the authorities to extend the retirement age of the Government employees to 62, Sarat added that extending the retirement age will boost the State's economy.
Saying that several posts are lying vacant at different departments, he urged the authorities to carry out recruitment drives under the MPSC and SSC rather than hiring staff on contractual basis.
