Inspite of the deployment of security personnel round the clock, two shops located near Sani Thakur Mandir of Thangal Bazar Khuyathong Road have been burgled and around Rs 10 lakhs in cash and other valuable commodities have been stolen in the intervening night of yesterday and today.
According to police report, the cash and the commodities were stolen from Imphal Tyres, a shop selling vehicles tyres and tubes and BH Sunder Singh a and Sons, a shop selling electrical goodS between 12 midnight and 12.30 am.
Around Rs 5 lakh in cash and goods worth Rs 3 lakhs have been stolen from Imphal Tyres while the burglers at Sunder Singha & Sons decamped with Rs 87,000 in cash, 10 Godrej DVD players each costing Rs 3,790, 4 Philips DVD players each costing Rs 3,490 each, 10 freeze compressors each costing Rs 3000, 20 freeze condensers each costing Rs 850 and one Yasica Still Camera.
City Police have registered a case in this connection.
