Imphal, June 10 2015 :
The Biodiversity Ecology and Environment Network (BeeNet Manipur) strongly condemned the intentionally started proposed construction works of power station on the very day of World Environment Day by way of demolishing the precious Angaan Ching Eco-Park at Kakching.
People of Manipur strongly demand that the authority take up the said development programme without affecting the Eco-park where various indigenous plants and trees of many endangered local species have been carefully preserved and this park shall help development of the state's environmental economy.
A press note released by Secretary, Local Network has stated that Angaan Ching Eco-Park is not for business purposes as being done by some others with importing many exotic plants and trees from outside.
The State's environment cannot be replaced or developed by planting foreign trees and plants, it added.
People are not against developmental programme and there are enough sites nearby the Angaan Ching Eco-Park for any kind of developmental programmes.
It further appealed to the authorities to consider the people's wish to preserve the Angaan Ching Eco-Park by taking up the developmental programmes without touching the park area, and warned that the Beenet Manipur will file a PIL to save the precious resources of people.
