90 stranded in CCpur handed over to MU

Kakching, May 10 2023:
90 people including nine women who were stranded at D Khongkhai, T Seljang and Singjao villages in Churachandpur district after the communal clashes broke out on May 3 were handed over by Solam Haopi Area Kuki Chief Association and Solam Haopi Area Youth Development Organisation members to Peace Committee Sugnu AC Adjoining Area of Chandel, Churachandpur and Bish-nupur District Committee president & Sugnu MLA K Ranjit at Laloiphai village, Churachandpur district on Tuesday.
The stranded persons include 21 from Thoubal, 10 from Imphal, 19 from Waik-hong, eight from Kumbi, six each from Wangoo & Chairel Mangji, three from Pombilchok, 11 from Khoiju-mantabi and one each from Khullakpat, Tangjeng and Churachandpur.
The said people were handed over in the presence of Makhao Area Chief Association chairman & Laloiphai village chief KS Baite, Solam Haopi Area Kuki Chief Association chairman Nganjathang, Sugnu SDPO Sugnu, Saikot police station OC, Peace Committee members and CSOs, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Ranjit expressed elation that due to effort of the Peace Committee no unwanted incident has occurred in Sugnu and adjoining areas in-spite of the riot affecting many across the state.
Ranjit also assured that the Peace Committee in collaboration with department concerned will continue to work for preventing any unwanted incidents in the area.
The MLA also presented an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh to Solam Haopi Area Kuki Chief Association chairman Nganjathang as a token of appreciation for safe keeping of the stranded people.
