Y20 consultancy meet organised at MU

Y20 Consultancy on 'Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance' was held on May 4 with Union minister of state for external affairs Dr RK Ranjan Singh, Manipur University vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh and MU School of Engineering dean & Y20 Organising Committee chairman RK Hemakumar Singh present as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, Dr RK Ranjan informed that Y20 is a platform to create space for young people to freely express their voices and debate with their peers and policy makers while Prof N Lokendra expressed that the consultancy provides platform to the participants to learn from each other.
As the future lies on the shoulders of the youth, it is the responsibility of the people to provide youth with the necessary tools and resources, he said.
Meanwhile, Prof RK Hemakumar mentioned that there is need to discuss and find solu-tionsior the challenges people are facing across the globe.
The theme of the first session 'Youth in Legislature and Politics' was moderated by retired IAS RK Nimai while the speakers included University of Heidelberg, Germany Dr An-ja-Desiree Senz; Yonsei University, South Korea Prof Taedong Lee and Manipur University Students' Union vice president O Premdas.
The second session on 'Youth in Policy-making and Governance' was chaired by MU Department of Sociology head "Prof Ksh Rajendra Singh and the panellists included business consultant, London Sanjoy Mairembam; Mizoram University's Dr N Irina Devi and Y20 Secretariat, India's Drishti Rawal.
The third session on 'Institutionalising Leadership and Governance Training' was also moderated by Prof Ksh Rajendra and the speakers were BTK Consultant, Malaysia Dr Banu Tanjakaunder; IIM Raipur Prof Ramkumar; and TMH Green director Terauki Watanabe.
The last technical session on the theme 'Youth in Community Governance' was moderated by former North Eastern Council chairman & Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah.
The speakers included Soko University, Japan Prof Yukio Maeda; TISS, Mumbai Dr Sonali Kusum and ARFC, Hyderabad Vijay Vedantum.
