Awareness programme on schemes implemented by SFAC commences

The 6-day awareness programme on the schemes implemented by SFAC (Small Farmers Agri-Business Consortium) was inaugurated today at the conference hall of Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Lamphelpat.
The awareness programme is being organised by ICM.
The inaugural function was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture), Dr Suhel Akhtar; Director, ICM Dr N Ranjana Devi and Additional Director, Agriculture Department, and Project Coordinator, Manipur Small Farmers' Agri-Business Consortium as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function, Dr Ranjana appealed to the participants to perform progressive farming and become professional farmer like other professions.
She stated that agriculture is an area where our farmers can get maximum benefit by earning more skills and knowing the schemes and programmes implemented by the Government for them.
There is a need to develop integrated farming, rain water harvesting and proper irrigation system in the State, she added.
She asked the participants to show sincere effort in the classes, lectures, field visits etc during the training period.
The main objective of the awareness programme is to create awareness among the participants about the schemes implemented by Small Farmers Agri-Business Consortium viz Venture Capital Assistance (VCA), Equity Grant & Credit Guarantee Fund by mobilising locally available bio-resources.
The participants include agripreneurs, farmers and representatives of Self Help Groups.
The training programme is being organised under the sponsorship of Manipur SFAC.
