Tents, candle making machines distributed to displaced victims

Inabid to improve the economic status and help in generating a regular source of income for displaced victims taking refuge at relief camps, tents and candle making machines were distributed today.
The distribution programme was held at Moirang Philem Leikai organised by MLA Office Moirang attended by Moirang AC MLA Th Shanti Singh, NPP Moirang Block President Ph Megha Singh and retired Principal S Kumar as the presidium members among others.
Speaking in connection with the programme, Th Shanti said that the modernised tents have been distributed so that the displaced people who are opening roadside food stalls along Sendra road and Omba Garden road can revamp their stalls and give a new look so as to attract tourists.
Furthermore, it will help in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, he added.
Elaborating on the various welfare activities taken up for the displaced people staying at various relief camps in Moirang AC, the MLA said that all possible help such as providing cards of different Government welfare schemes, providing grants etc have been done.
Around 150 displaced families have been shifted to prefabricated houses constructed at Kwakta in a phase wise manner, said the MLA.
The MLA appealed to the displaced people to avail the benefits of all forms of support provided to them amid these challenging times to help in improving their living condition and assured best possible help from his end towards the cause.
It may be noted that the candle making machines were distributed to selected groups of displaced people staying at the relief camp opened at Moirang College.
