At least three underground activists belonging to two different groups were arrested by Ar troops during the last 24 hours.
In a statement, the PRO of AR said one PLA cadre was arrested by troops of 34 Assam Rifles during a search operation launched in the general area of Ukhongsang Maning Leikai today.
The arrested was identified as S/S Sgt Thokchom Kiran Singh alias Tomba (28) of Ukhongshang Maning Leikai.
Twelve live rounds of AK 47 and five rounds of 5.56 mm (M-16) were recovered from him, said the PRO and added that he was handed over to Yairipok PS today.
Troops of 24 AR also nabbed two PREPAK cadres while travelling in a Tata Sumo on the Imphal-Moreh route at Khudengthabi check post yesterday.
The two have been identified as S/S Sgt Loken (30) of Waikhom Leikai and S/S Cpl Naoba (27) of Waikhom Leikai.
One 9 mm pistol, six live rounds of 9 mm, one .32 pistol and five live rounds of .32 pistol were recovered from them, said the PRO and added they have been handed over to Imphal West police today.
