TASO condemns armed attack on trucks, seeks additional security along NH-37

The Tousem Area Students Organization (TASO) strongly condemned the armed attack on trucks carrying essential items along the Imphal-Jiribam Highway yesterday.
In a press statement, TASO president Nehemiah Daime urged the relevant Government authorities to provide additional security personnel along National Highway 37 .
Reacting strongly against the disturbing incident where vehicles transporting fuel and liquefied petroleum gas were targeted by armed miscreants on National Highway 37 within the jurisdiction of Tousem Sub Division, the student body said, 'Such brazen acts not only endanger lives but also sow seeds of discord and chaos among the diverse communities cohabiting in our region'.
'We strongly condemn this reckless act and urge all parties involved to refrain from any further attempts to disrupt the peace and stability of our region', said TASO.
In order to foster a conducive environment for harmonious coexistence and ensure the safe transportation of goods and commodities along the aforementioned highway, Tousem Area Students Organization appealed to the authorities concerned to take immediate and decisive actions by deploying additional security forces.
'The safety and security of our residents are paramount, and it is imperative that swift measures are taken to prevent such incidents from recurring.
We appeal to the authorities to prioritize the protection of our citizens and uphold the rule of law', added the statement.
