Vehicle lifters kingpin held

Mayengbam Roni (in-charge of Anti Vehicle Theft Team Manipur) has claimed that the AVTT has arrested an alleged kingpin and one of his associates involved in stealing luxurious cars from the National capital.
Speaking to media persons at Imphal West SP conference hall in the presence of DIG K Jayenta, Roni said that as a continuation of the drive carried out by AVTT Manipur following the seizure/ recovery of 16 stolen vehicles from different parts of the State, the team has been able to recover two Hyundai Cretas, two Toyota Fortune SUVs, one Maruti 800 and one Maruti Swift, from different parts of the State.
Yesterday, in connection with an FIR lodged at Porompat PS, AVTT Manipur team detained one Md Juma Khan alias Armaan s/o Rashid Ali of Yairipok Bishnunaha at Thoubal bazar at around 4.30pm along with a suspected stolen Maruti Swift car.
Juma Khan eventually disclosed that he is involved in stealing many luxury cars from the National capital along with accomplices in Delhi, namely one Arkaan who was recently arrested by Noida policeon June 28.He further revealed that he gave order to Arkaan to steal cars from NCR and engaged one Parvez and one Asif for stealing and driving them to Manipur.
While driving the stolen cars all the way to the North Eastern State to sell them, they also replaced the number plates with fake ones from Manipur.
It was also revealed that they had apparently stolen as many as 1000 cars over the course of the last one year and he was arrested 3 times by Delhi police, at Maharani Bagh, Kamla Market and Uttam Nagar, Roni added.
Juma Khan also revealed that the transaction of money for buying and selling the stolen cars was done by Hundi/Hawala system (illegal money transfer) through GP fashion shop number 3 and shop number 4 of Tampha Market, Thangal bazar owned by one Ghanashyam Prasad (32) s/o Lakhichand Prasad of Telipati.
As per the revelation of Juma Khan, his associate (Hawala operator) Ghanashyam Prasad was also arrested by AVTT Manipur along with Rs 4,50,000 which was handed over to him by Juma Khan.
Roni continued that both the arrested people were produced before the Court and taken to five days police remand.
DIG L Jayenta appreciated AVTT Manipur for recovering many stolen vehicles and stated that the State is presently in an alarming stage due to the presence of a big racket of vehicles lifters.

Khan, the DIG expressed hope that many stolen vehicles will be recovered in a very short period of time.
The DIG also appealed to all the people to be very careful while purchasing vehicles from outside the State.
