As in other parts of the country, National Science Day observed was also observed here at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium unde the aegis of Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) today.
Organising a State level painting competition on the theme of 'Understanding planet earth' and presentation of dance drama on theme of 'Women's health and nutrition' under the sponsorship of Heart Care Foundation, New Delhi were the main highlights of the observance function.
Chairman of Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) PL Thanga and Commissioner of Science and Technology S Budhachandra Singh attended the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Associate Professor Dr S Ibotombi Singh of Earth Science Department, Manipur University was also spoke on the theme of the observance as resource person.
The National Science Day was also observed under the aegis of Manipur University Students' Union (MUTSU) at the students' home of the University today.
The event was attended by Vice Chancellor of the University Prof C Amuba as chief guest; Dean of School of Science PS Yadava as guest of honour and Dean of Students' Welfare Prof Islamuddin as functional president.
Science Teachers' Forum, Manipur also observed the Day at Meetei Mayek High School with retired Director of Education E Yaima Singh and Forum president A Sabita Devi as chief guest and functional president respectively.
At the occasion, former head of Physics Department of DM College of Science L Dwijendra, Senior Scientist L Ramananda Singh and former Additional Directo of Education (U) spoke on the topics of 'Life and works of CV Raman', 'Remote sensing as a tool for monitoring' and'Human activities, its impacts on climatic change' as resource persons.
