World Radio Day observed for the first time in the State

In view of the 8th observation of World Radio Day across the nation, Manipur too celebrated the day for the very first time at the auditorium of Diamond Radio Station, Khongjom today.
Organised by Diamond Radio Station, the event was attended by Khorirol Sandok Lup Wangjing president Tongbram Babulal Singh and Diamond Radio Chairman Moirangthem Hemanta as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, T Babulal said that people, nowadays, are aware of the uses of radio adding that it is a medium where information can be disseminated in the form of sounds and music.
He said that the evolution of community radio is a boon for the public as it provides immense opportunities and benefits in today's era.
Meanwhile, Diamond Radio chairman Hemanta maintained that World Radio Day was observed from February 2012 when people realised the value and uses of the medium.
He added that the cerebration of World Radio Day is the first of its kind in the State.
Stating that Diamond Radio is also a platform for young kids and youth to present and explore their talents, he appealed the parents to send their children to the station so that they can enjoy the opportunities.
The delegates and people present there observed a two minute silence to honour the departed soul of those who sacrificed and contributed in the field of radio.
Later, a poetry recitation for writers of Khorirol Sandok Lup Wangjing was also held as part of the event.
