ATSUM, MKS remember Lungnila

Imphal, November 04 2014: Reminding the people of a young, promising and a very beautiful and lovely girl mercilessly snatched away from her friends and parents, All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM-ES) today said Lungnila Elizabeth was not only a symbol of unity for the people of the State but was also like a star which shines over all the people of Manipur.

ATSUM in a statement appreciated the wonderful patience, endurance, and the strong heart shown by the parents of (L) Baby Lungnila Elizabeth.

The yeomen service done for the people of the State and also to the students of Little Flower School by the parents is well appreciated.

But ATSUM is at pains on seeing the conditions of the park at Officers' Club which was constructed in memory of the little girl.

"If the Government cannot maintain it properly we request the Government to kindly allow ATSUM to maintain the park for the kids of the State", it said.

The Maram Students' Union (MKS) has also paid deep and profound homage to Late Baby Lungnila Elizabeth on her 11th death anniversary.

A statement released today by the MKS recalled the incident that led to the brutal murder of the then eight year old baby Lungnila Elizabeth, a Class III student of Little Flower School, Imphal which shocked, brought pain and endless tears to everyone specially mothers and children.

The bitter experience and the unpardonable sin in the slaughter of the baby later stood as a sign of 'forgiveness' touching hearts of thousands and as a bond of unity in condemning the barbaric act cutting across boundaries, religion, ethnic groups, young and old.

The murder of the girl is a reminder that women and children are often soft targets in a place where they should be safest.

Hundreds of women and children regularly face many social ailments in the form of various atrocities, assault and their silence and fear of stigma are assumed as weaknesses by anti-social elements.

The annual anniversary should be a constant reminder to implore the citizens to break free from the path of hatred and violence and ensure that these sections of vulnerable people have every right to live with full dignity and respect.

MKS sincerely paid homage and respect to baby Lungnila who came to earth as a child and returned to heaven as an angel.

To carry forward the values of her supreme sacrifice and inspire others with such heart rendering tale, MKS said that they are annually organising MKS Lungnila Meritorious Awards.
