ZU (AMN) condemns armed confrontation; appeals for cease fire

Imphal, December 03 2024: The Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has categorically condemned the armed confrontation between the cadres of NSCN (IM) and ZUF at Sangji village in Noney district on the morning of November 28 in the strongest terms.

The Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has appealed to all parties to cease fire and resolve their differences through peaceful negotiations in the interest of Zeliangrong people, said a press statement issued by Pantijai Newmei, general secretary, Zeliangrong Union (AMN).

Zeliangrong Union (AMN) has stated that the incident created panic and traumatized the villagers at Sangji and neighboring villages during this festive season.

It added that a similar incident also occurred at Longjang village recently during the festive season and ZU (AMN) had issued appeals to all the political groups/National workers through press and media to shun any kind of violence and killing among the brethren.

Stating that many similar incidents of violence have happened in the past and present, Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) expressed sadness over the "fratricidal conflict" between different political groups operating in Zeliangrong inhabited areas.

Thus, ZU (AMN) made heartfelt calls for a cease fire and peaceful resolution.
