In two different road accidents that happened this afternoon, altogether 18 people were injured.
In the first incident, at least 16 persons sustained injuries of varying degrees when a team of picnickers travelling in a mini bus (MN-01/0771) met with an accident on their return journey from Sadu Chiru waterfall.
The mishap took place some distance down from the Sadu Chiru waterfall near a UJB school this afternoon.
While 15 victims were brought to RIMS at about 1.30 pm, another victim was admitted to Langol View Clinic.
According to reports, some other injured victims were also treated at Nambol PHC but the exact number of the victims cannot be confirmed till the time of filing this report.
The bus was full to the capacity and most of the picnickers belong to Nongren in Imphal East district.
The accident occurred when a team of students and teachers of a coaching centre were returning home after a picnic party at Sadu Chiru waterfall.
Among the injured were girls and boys below 7 years of age.
Most other victims were teenagers.
On the other hand, 3 passengers of an auto rickshaw sustained injuries when the auto-rickshaw met with an accident on its own at Thongju Boroi Makhong under Singjamei police station at about 2.30 pm today.
