O Henry appears before Court

Imphal, June 13 2019:
Complying with the order given by the Additional Session Judge (Fast Track Court) ND&PS, Manipur, MLA Okram Henry today appeared before the Court during the special trial of the infamous January 11, 2013, airport drug haul case.
On May 29, the Court had ruled that it will not entertain any further dispense prayer of the MLA after he failed to appear before the Court consecutively many times during the special trial of the case.
The people charge sheeted by the CBI in the said airport drug haul case including MLA O Henry s/o late O Lukhoi Singh of Mantripukhri, Md Rajauddin son of Md Riyaj of Lilong Sambrukhong and Sapam Angus alias Nanao alias Naoba s/o S Inaobi Singh of Changangei Mayai Leikai, were present before the Court during the hearing today but other charge sheeted accused namely Luwangthem Tarpon Singh s/o late L Gulamjit Singh of Keishampat Thokchom Leikai, Rajneesh Kumar s/o late Mahendra Prasad of Rajendra Nagar, Patna, Ramveer Tyagi s/o Satish Tyagi of Nadagram, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh were represented by their counsels.
In the meantime, two prosecution witnesses of CBI, identified as IGP Konsam Jayanta Singh of Wangkhei Laishram Leikai and businessman S Gopinath s/o S Srinavash of 3rd Street, Pammal, Chennai, were produced before the Court in the presence of the accused persons today.
It may be mentioned that Addl Session Judge (Fast Track Court) ND&PS, Manipur (upon obtaining the official order from the High Court of Manipur), initiated the trial after it was transferred from Special Judge ND&PS, Manipur.
It may also be mentioned that the erstwhile team of Special Investigative Unit (SIU) of Manipur Police Department seized a huge consignment of drugs (Pseudoephedrine tablets) worth about Rs 1.4 crore from Imphal Tulihal Airport on January 11, 2013.Later, with an official approval by the then State Government, the case was handed over to CBI for further investigation.
