Symposium, conference held

A symposium on "Life and works of RK Jhalajit Singh" was conducted to-day at the auditorium of DIPR in Nityaipat Chuthek.
The symposium was organised by Sahitya Akademi in collaboration with Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal.
It was attended by Manipuri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi convenor, Rajen Toijamba and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal president, L Joychandra Singh as presidium members.
In the 1st session chaired by Kangjam Radhakumar Singh, Kh Gokulchandra Singh and Th Ibohanbi Singh presented their papers.
K Hemchandra Singh, Koijam Shantibala Devi and Y Kunjabihari presented their papers in the second session chaired by P Nabachandra Singh.
Meanwhile, the 8th Conference of the All Manipur Democratic Women's Association (AMDWA), an affiliated unit of All India Democratic Women's Association was held today at the premises of AMUCO in Kwakeithel.
As per a release issued by AMDWA, the conference began with hoisting of flag by veteran women activist Asem Binodini Devi, followed by a welcome address by P K Sreemathy, former Member of the Lok Sabha and president of AIDWA.
The inaugural session was also attended by dignitaries, including All Manipur Nupi Marup working president, Thingbaijam Sakhi Devi; Laishram Randhoni, retired College Principal; LEIKOL president, Ksh Subadani Devi; N Binanda Devi, retired School Principal; and AMDWA president Ch Sundari Devi.
The conference adopted a twenty pages printed report placed by AMDWA secretary Ayekpam Ashabala Devi.
During the conference, a 21 member ADMWA Committee was also elected.
