Anti-CAB protest goes on, irate locals burn effigies

As part of the continuous agitations from different parts of the State against the passing and enactment of Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, people staged a sit in protest at Ningthoukhong Keithel, Bishnupur district and blocked NH-150 (Tiddim road).
The locals also burned effigies showing strong condemnation against the inaction of the authorities concerned regarding the matter.
Ningthoukhong Khunai Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and United Club Organisation, Bishnupur district took up the protest agitations which disturbed the daily lifestyle of the people travelling along the road.
The protesters burned effigies of PM Modi and Chief Minister N Biren.
Placards which reads, "Long live Manipur", "Yelhoumi Kansi", "Withdraw CAB 2016" were raised by the local protesters.
Meanwhile, six students organisations namely AMSU, DESAM, MSF, KSA, AIMS, SUK along with Bamop Leikai Youth Club Yairipok (BYCY) and women vendors of Yairipok Keithel burned the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath, expressing strong opposition to the CAB 2016 .
Several slogans and placards were raised during the agitation.
Students of Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa under the aegis of Pangal Students Organisation took out a protest rally denouncing the CAB 2016 .
On the other hand, students of MS Global Academy in Thoubal Haokha also organised a protest rally along NH-102 and the surrounding areas of Thoubal Haokha demanding immediate withdrawal of the said Bill.
The students shouted slogans and raised pla cards opposing CAB and passing of the Bill in the Rajya Sabha, reports our correspondent.
On of the students expressed that the student community will continue to agitate until and unless theBill is withdrawn immediately.
