Manipuri film Oneness makes its mark at IMDb-qualifying AIFF 2025

Manipuri feature film Oneness directed by Priyakanta Laishram, continues to gain recognition as the film was recently nominated for Best Cinematography at the Aravali International Film Festival 2025, held on April 5 and 6 at Alliance Fran�aise, New Delhi.
An IMDb-qualifying event, the festival is dedicated to showcasing independent cinema from across the globe.
The film's cinematography, handled by Boong Konjengbam and Ibomcha Irom, was acknowledged with a nomination in the Best Cinematography category.
In addition to its participation in the main competition section, Oneness has been selected for a special curated screening in May 2025, as part of the festival's monthly showcase.

Further highlighting its impact, Oneness has consistently remained in IMDb's top 3 Manipuri films list from 2023 through 2025 .
Director Priyakanta Laishram stated that the film is being submitted selectively to festivals that value inclusive and socially conscious narratives.
Plans are also underway to present the film abroad at international queer film festivals, with efforts being made to explore broader distribution opportunities.
Completed in 2024, Oneness has been featured at several prominent festivals, including the KASHISH Pride Film Festival 2024 in Mumbai, the 14th Bangalore Queer Film Festival (BQFF), the 2nd Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival 2025 (EIIFF), and the 2nd Northeast India Film Festival, Manipur.
At the PRAG Cine Awards North East 2025, the film received the Best Director-Northeast Award and was nominated in three additional categories: Best Actor - Northeast, Best Actress - Northeast, and Best Film - Northeast.
Regarded as the first full-length Manipuri feature film to centre on same-sex relationships, Oneness is inspired by a real-life incident.
It addresses themes such as identity, marginalisation, and emotional vulnerability, presenting a layered and personal narrative rooted in the socio-cultural context of the region.
The film is produced by Roushil Singla and Priyakanta Laishram under the banner of Priyakanta Productions.
The cast includes Priyakanta Laishram, Maya Choudhury, Sachinker Sagolsem, Suraj Ngashepam, Ramva Leishangthem, and Harendra Laishram, among others.
