Imphal, August 08:
Implementation of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) has reportedly brought about some perceptible improvement in the health care delivery system of Bishnupur district.
According to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Bishnupur District Dr W Gulapi after the implementation of the Mission, the OPD services in the Primary Health Centres at Ningthoukhong and Kumbi have been made functional atleast for six days during the day and emergency services provided to the people round the clock.
Efforts are also being made to extend the same facilities to the people at the Primary Health Centres of Thanga and Leimapokpam as well, the CMO added while talking to mediapersons at the common room of Moirang College today.
Dr Gulapi further informed that under the NRHM, facilities for referral services have also been made available to the people at the Community Health Centres of Nambol and Moirang apart from the benefits of the HIV/AIDS Control Programme, National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme, National Leprosy Eradication Programme and National Blindness Control Programme.
An action plan has also been charted out to ensure that the benefit of these programmes are extended to people living in far flung areas of the district as well, Dr Gulapi disclosed.
Plans are also afoot for taking up maternal and child health care, family planning and contraception, adolescent health care, control of local endemic diseases, field visits and home care, etc under the NRHM.
Over and above this, the two vans of the mobile medical unit provided to the district have been made fully operational, Dr Gulapi said.
