Since the launching of the blockade on the two national Highways connecting Manipur with the rest of the country on August 1 by the Sadar Hills District Demand Committee prices of the essential commodities have sky rocketed in the market of the state.
Reporter of this paper while surveying the prices in the markets of the city today found price rises in almost all the essential commodities.
The prices of most the essential commodities have rise up to fifty percent from the original price.
The price of potato which was earlier sold at Rs 15 is now sold at Rs 35 to 40.Onion which was sold at Rs 18 only is now sold at 30 to 35 per kg.
Eggs which cost Rs 110 per plate is now sold at Rs 130.Besides the prices is sky rocketing, public are also facing many hardship in getting the essential commodities.
