Asserting that the alleged comment made by Thuingaleng Muivah, general secretary of NSCN-IM during a consultative meeting at Camp Hebron was an 'insult' to the Zeliangrong people, Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) has questioned the 'fitness' of the leader to head the Naga political movement.
Th Muivah had allegedly asked 'What tribe did Jadonang belong to ?' at the gathering during the consultative meeting at Camp Hebron.
Zeliangrong Baudi in a statement today asserted that the 'cheap and irresponsible acts' of Th Muivah were his desperate attempts to 'discredit and sideline' Jadonang and Zeliangrong people from the Naga history/ Naga political movement.
"Th Muivah must be unaware of his parents' identity and must be suffering from mental disorder if he is really unaware of Jadonang's identity.
Muivah who claims to be the NSCN/GPRN (IM) group chief negotiator seems to be confused of the Naga political movement hence, not capable to continue in such manner," alleged Zeliangrong Baudi.
The Naga political movement was first started by Zeliangrong under the leadership of Jadonang and the contribution of the Zeliangrong people in the movement can't be measured in terms of height, breadth, length, money or any degree, it said.
Jadonang was given the title "Founder of the Naga Raj" by the British colonial authority and he was hung to death on August 29, 1931.But the chronology of Naga political movement published recently in the form of pamphlet didn't include Jadonang who raised war against the Bristish colonial authority for Naga Raj.
The exclusion of Jadonang and the contribution of the Zeliangrong people from the history of Naga political movement will have more harm than good to the entire cause and will dilute the true and genuine cause of the Naga political movement in the long run which is condemnable in the strongest term, said Zeliangrong Baudi.
The history of the Naga political movement may be reduced to mockery in the eyes of the world if the distortion of history with vested interest is allowed to continue, added the ZB.
According to the pamphlet, the seed of Naga Nationalism was sown in 1918 with the formation of Naga Club, alleged ZB and added that the Nagas must be clear that 'this Naga Club was not a political body but just a social body'.
As long as the 'Naga Raj', the supreme sacrifice of Jadonang and the contribution of Zeliangrong people are ignored, the political movement will not bear fruit, said Zeliangrong Baudi.
The Naga National Council (NNC) was formed in 1946 under the leadership of AZ Phizo long after the death of Jadonang to carry forward the Naga political movement.
The Naga people should never forget that the political movement have come thus far because of Jadonang who founded the movement and raised the famous slogan 'Makaameiru Gwangtupuni' - meaning the 'kingdom of Nagas shall reign'.
The Zeliangrong people have been the backbone of the movement since the beginning and even today the Naga movement is being sustained by the land and resources of Zeliangrong people, said Baudi.
Jadonang must have inspired AZ Phizo to carry forward the movement.
AZ Phizo had stayed in Zeliangrong areas especially Kandiheng village in Tousem sub-division, Tamenglong district.
With the help of Zeliangrong Christian missionary volunteers under the leadership of Meingan Panmei, field director ZAB, AZ Phizo was able to sneak into Sylhet (Bangladesh).
Honouring his last wish, the Zeliangrong youth received his dead body at Delhi airport when it arrived from London and accompanied it till burial at his native village Khonoma, Nagaland, claimed Zeliangrong Baudi stating that the contribution of the Zeliangrong people can't be sidelined and ignored.
