Imphal, January 22 2013:
The proscribed UNLF has rejected the press statement of PIB (DW) which claimed that a fierce gun battle took place between security forces and UNLF/MPA along Manipur-Myanmar border under Singhat sub-division of Churachandpur district in the morning of January 21 in which four MPA cadres were reportedly killed.
There was no such incident at the said time and place involving MPA cadres, the outfit contended in a press release issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
The alleged fabricated statement of PIB (DW) only exposed that some people, either deserters or groomed by them (security forces), were shot dead in cold blood because the victims were of no more use to them.
By doing so, the Indian military were trying to save their name after the flopped surrender drama for which seven youngsters of Heirok were lured with false promises recently.
However, the incident looked suspicious for L Cpl Pukharmbam Wangooba alias Kanta s/o P Ningthemchandra of Wangoo Sabal Mamang Leikai, Kumabam Sindamba alias Das s/o K Babu of Moirang Kumam Leikai, Mutum Ihultamba alias Iboton s/o M Ibocha of Waithou Sangomsang Leikai and Irom Chingahal alias Open s/o I Babumacha of Langthabal Mantrikhong Makha Leikai fled away from their post of MPA 292 Bn in the night of January 14 .
Parents may check if those people killed by the Indian military are these deserters.
In case, the deceased turned out to be these deserters, it is quite possible that they were shot dead in cold blood after overpowering them so that some military officers can get medals or promotion.
The four deserters did not take with them any weapons when they ran away.
PIB (DW) was fabricating the whole story by showing a number of weapons just to project the Indian military as capable soldiers, it alleged.
It also reminded all deserters that the Indian military would never show mercy to them, it added.
