Hectic Preparations Underway For Republic Day Celebration
Security beefed up ahead of R-Day

Imphal, January 22 2013:
Along with the hectic preparation for the upcoming Republic Day celebration, the State Government has beefed up security measures in the wake of the boycott call issued by several UG groups.
Intelligence sources said that they have received information that some UG groups are poised to create trouble during the Republic Day celebration.
Apart from cleansing the main roads of Imphal city for the 64th Republic Day of India, the State Government has already put up decorative lights in front of Raj Bhavan and the Chief Minister's official residence.
Governor Gurbachan Jagat would hoist the tricolour at Kangla in addition to receiving salutes of 50 march past contingents on Republic Day.

4th IRB CO Lunsei Kipgen has been already selected as the parade commander.
The march contingents would comprise of police, Fire Service, NCC cadets and school students.
After giving salute at Kangla, the march past contingents would come from the northern gate (North AOC) and march to Khoyathong, and Raj Bhavan road before winding up at 1st Bn Manipur Rifles compound where the Chief Minister would deliver a speech.
Full rehearsal of the Republic Day parade would be held tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a high-ranking police officer informed that extensive and stringent measures have been taken in view of the declaration made by several UG groups to boycott the Republic Day celebration.
The 64th Republic Day would also be celebrated in all district headquarters as well as sub-divisional headquarters.
