Imphal, May 14: The results of the Higher Secondary Examination, 2005 conducted by Council of Higher secondary Education, Manipur has been declared this evening registering a dismal pass percentage of 35.79 against previous year�s 36.69 percent.

Predictably, the females fared better than their male counterparts with girl students topping in all the four streams, namely Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational.

In fact, in Arts Stream, there is not a single boy student among the first ten position holders.

Mayengbam Ranjeeta Devi of TG Higher Secondary School, Imphal secured first position in the Arts stream with letter marks in Alternative English, Geography and Education.

She secured a total mark of 419.Nengdeilhen Singsit of HM Higher Secondary School, Keithelmanbi secured second position securing a total mark of 418, just one mark behind the topper, with letter marks in English, Thadou-Kuki and Home Science.

TG Higher Secondary School, Imphal also bagged the third position with Dolly Limbu culling 414 marks with letter mark in Political Science.

The dominance of girls over the boys in the examination continued in the Science stream too, where Laxmi Rajkumari of Human Resource Development Academy topped the examination with a total of 489 including letter marks in English, Alternative English, Physics, Biology and Mathematics.

Rajkumar Dhanachandra Singh of Brighter Academy, Imphal who secured 449 marks with letters in Alternative English, Physics, Mathematics and Biology secured the second position.

While MM Ziaur Rahaman of Human Resource Development Academy had to be content with third position at 449 marks and letter marks in Manipuri, Physics, Mathematics and Biology.

In Commerce group, Angom Syria Chanu, Roohi Jain and Sargam Jain did their school, Shree Digambar Jain Mahavir Higher Secondary School, Paona Bazar, proud by making a clean sweep of the top three positions.

Syria secured 363 marks, Roohi Jain 359 and Sargam 350 with a distinction in English.

In Vocational stream, Konjengbam Kheroda of TG Higher Secondary School topped the examination by securing a total of 384 marks with letter mark feats in Commercial Garment Designing & Making (Cgm)- V and Cgm-VI.

Thokchom Miranda of Model Higher Secondary School, Takyel tallied 383 marks with letter mark in Cgm-IV, Cgm-V and Cgm-VI to occupy the second slot while Khuraijam Bedakumari Devi of TG Higher Secondary School came third with a total of 355 and letter marks in Cgm-V and Cgm-VI.

Out of the total number of 3,689 candidates who appeared in the examination in the Arts stream only 1,569 candidates got through, thereby registering a pass percent of 43.90.In the Science stream, a total of 10,562 candidates had appeared, out of which only 3,398 managed to cross the career hurdle.

In the Commerce Stream, 428 students had appeared with only 160 of them getting through.

In the Vocational Stream, only 10 candidates out of the total 47 students who appeared in the examination got through the examination.
